Why Must Student Facing Staff & Buildings Carry the Burden?

If OSD cuts the Central Administration budget to 5% (using ‘23-’24 budget data), then it would save over $3.4m. Even a cut to 6% would save nearly $2.0m. Districts typically operate a Central Administration budget at 5-6%

When looking at the percent of the $178m district budget the Central Administration makes up, that number can fluctuate, dependent on if you’re figuring in benefits, changing the combination of staff positions you’re looking at, etc.

Per the recent OSD budget survey, the category the community ranked lowest, is Central Administration, by a large margin, with keeping all schools open, as one of the highest values.

So, why must all the efficiencies of the district be the burden of student facing staff and buildings when there are other solutions?
