What We Know…

We are SO excited to announce that our website is now viewable in six different languages.

WHAT WE KNOW…

  • The current $380K deficit is solvable and the Superintendent can develop a sustainable, 4-year budget keeping all schools open and programs/services at or above existing levels.

Closing Madison and McKenny schools will only "save" ~$185K, while doing irreparable harm to students, faculty and our community.

  • The District Office budget has increased from 3% to 8.3% since 2017, yet revenue has remained flat and enrollment has gone down.

  • Enrollment has now flattened and is trending upward.

  • The Boston Harbor Elementary headcount has now officially tied it’s all time high from 2019.

  • All Eastside elementary schools had classes in overload in February 2024 - a total of 38 classes.

Closing Madison and McKenny schools is out of alignment with the City of Olympia's growth plan that says each neighborhood should have a readily-accessible elementary school.

  • More than 90 local businesses are in favor of keeping all schools open.

When our community rallies around our schools, great things can happen! We are continually thankful to our School Board for engaging with our community and look forward to a positive outcome on, or before, April 25th.
