The Kids Win!!!

Ahhhhh…..we can all breathe a sigh of relief for next year. At last night’s packed Board Meeting, the Board unanimously agreed to move forward with Superintendent Murphy’s recommended Budget Plan 1 to KEEP ALL SCHOOLS OPENfor next year. The room erupted in cheers, tears and a standing ovation.

We would not be at this point today without the help of so many.

  • Thank you to the parents, who won the legal hearing.

  • Thank you to the community, who stepped forward with their ideas and thoughts.

  • Thank you to the kids, who courageously spoke about their schools.

  • Thank you to Board Members, who listened and engaged with our community.

  • Thank you to Kate Davis, for all your work on the budget options.

  • Thank you to Board Director Maria Flores, for so tirelessly advocating for our schools and speaking your mind.

  • Thank you to Superintendent Patrick Murphy, for hearing your community, honoring the 15 PTA/PTO/PSO groups that signed the no closures letter and recommending NO SCHOOL CLOSURES FOR NEXT YEAR.

One community member so eloquently put it in a song last night.

Our community had to focus on the immediacy of school closures because it had real time sensitivity.

However, the heart of our work is addressing the structural concerns, priorities and values of this district. We will be working hard in the months ahead to make sure all schools receive the supports and student facing positions they deserve. We’ll continue what we started and will stand with Board Members to do the tough legislative work each year.

We’re excited to collaborate with the district and get things done. OSD4ALL is nonpartisan and will use our ability to find common ground to achieve the goals/outcomes we all share.

Many thumbs up! We’re moving in the right direction.

HERE’S TO YOU

As we head into the weekend, cheers to YOU, sweet Community, on coming together and working hard for our kids.
